I cant remember exactly but in the Manga I believe Mitsuri shows up a whole 1 or 2 chapters after muichiro starts fighting gyokko, but in the episode it seems to completely skip gyokko and cut to mitsuri at the end instead.
Mob Psycho is kind of an example because the manga ended and then it got a second season after that. If we get a third season the whole series would be completed. Food Wars got its fifth and final season green lit after the manga ended as well. But yeah I can’t think of an example that hits the exact marks the situation is pretty unprecedented..
